“ I like the small tapas style to try multiple dishes and the foods were good. Areas of improvement: Rice: It was not fresh, and it was from the fridge in plastic containers and reheated. Rice is not a situation to be stored in the fridge for more than a few hours, not to mention in a plastic container. Services: it is a very small restaurant. When we were there it was not too busy but the staff were not looking around and were tentative. We have to constantly try to get their attention for rice or add dishes etc. When we got their attention they were friendly and nice. Thank you. ”
“ We discovered Sim Chef! for a last meal in Portugal. Located about ten minutes from the airport, they have a small, friendly space, ~5 tables. The night we dined there, there were three chefs in the open kitchen. The food we enjoyed was thoughtfully prepared. We appreciated the visible knife skills, fresh herbs, with some unexpected twists to traditional Portuguese dishes. The chef working the front of the house that evening was clearly passionate about the food they serve and was happy to suggested some menu highlights for us, including a variety of flavors and textures. After enjoying the fresh bread and olives, we enjoyed braised oxtail bruschetta. We hadn’t ever seen this preparation, but the braised oxtail was soft, well-seasoned and a nice contrast with the crunchy bread below. Next, we enjoyed octopus served over a combination of cubed sweet potato, red onion and zucchini. Following this was a plate of perfectly cooked fried cuttlefish with a garlic aioli. Dessert was a traditional cake – Torta de Farofias, which was rich and flavorful. Tapas were medium-sized, so three plates + dessert was perfect for two hungry travelers. Highly recommended! ”
“ We visited Lisbon in August and originally came to this neighborhood looking for a local seafood restaurant that happened to be closed. The area was more residential and away from the busy tourist streets, and while searching for an alternative we stumbled upon Sim Chef! We are so glad we did. After being seated, we waited a few minutes because the restaurant only had two English menus and they were being used at another table. This felt like a very good sign. The menu is modern Portuguese, and every dish was fresh, creative, and beautifully prepared by the chef. Hugo, who managed the front of the restaurant, was wonderful. He took time to explain the dishes and gave us excellent recommendations that made our meal even more enjoyable. If you are looking to escape the touristy areas and enjoy an authentic, memorable meal, Sim Chef! is a must. We highly recommend it. ”
